Guadalupe C Barrera, 78, returned to his heavenly home on December 4,2016. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Lupe was born to the late Guadalupe and Julian Barrera. He was immersed in the Catholic community that would be his lifelong support. He was bestowed with a beautiful voice that he shared through ministry as a cantor and director of many choirs for the Diocese of Corpus Christi Texas. He was an original member of "Dino's" singing group and multiple performing groups and bands throughout his life. His amazing voice brought joy to so many people. Lupe worked and retired from the Corpus Christi Army Depot and was a proud Miller Buccaneer-class of 1957.
Lupe was blessed with a large and loving family and is survived by his wife Rosalinda and his children David (Sylvia) Barrera, Carmen (Adan) Fernandez, Joseph (Marygrace) Barrera, Thomas (Zonia) Barrera, Gracie (Rey) Benitez their mother Lillian Farias Garcia and his step children Lisa (Philip) Fricks, and Teresa (Sam) Simpson. He was "POPO" to his grandchildren and great- grandchildren who he loved so much.
He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.
A vigil rosary will be held at Reid Chapel Seaside Funeral Home on Friday December 9th at 7:00 Pm.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Saturday December 10th at 10:00 AM.
The Rite of Christian Burial will immediately be followed at Rose Hill Cemetery.
